After two weeks of intense training at the Legacy Center I think we have a future star! This picture was taken in the middle of their last game! If he wasn't trying to get the whole team to make snow angels on the gym floor he had his face in the net.
He had a lot of fun. He and his little friend Dakota were on the same team, The Kings. Aside from the laffy taffy's, yelling "GO KINGS" was his favorite part of Basketball. Asher would usually be ready for basketball by 7 in the morning and ask if it was time for almost 4 hours. It's a lot of work getting there with all the kids. I was glad it was only two weeks, those little programs and the coaches are awesome! They were so patient and were great with all the kids.
When the basketball started I was having a really hard time getting the girls down for naps. They'd just play in their cribs and talk for about 2 hours every nap time. Then when one baby fell asleep the other would wake them up right away. They were just getting more and more sleep deprived, and I was getting so frustrated and exhausted. I set up a pack and play in my closet and thought I'd just put Piper in it and see how she did. It made napping a lot better. I didn't really commit to the idea, then I tried Averi. She slept for almost 3 hours, which is way better than 40 minutes. I thought that was a good thing for when I was desperate. Then when Matt and I went out our babysitter Candace put Averi down for the night in our closet. They didn't wake each other up as early. Needless to say Averi is our little closet sleeper. She's so much happier!!! I think we all are. It makes showering and getting dressed a little harder, we just need to plan ahead better.
Piper is still the same bless her heart! She wakes up a lot and is now learning to put herself back to sleep by herself. She's never been able to cry much because I didn't want her waking up Averi. Now that she can cry more she doesn't! She's more rested and I don't run in right away. But she still cries LOUD. I've given up on waiting for her to get over the next hurdle and get easier. That's just how she is and we love her! I keep saying it but I really need to get more videos of the girls. They're so funny and so different!
Piper is really strong and intense. When she's showing you affection you need to be on your toes. She'll put her hands up in the air like she's so happy then smack you in the face, she's fall into you and give you the biggest hug with her face buried into your neck and then just bite you. It about breaks her heart though if you act surprised or hurt, because her gestures are so heartfelt.
Averi's been so funny too. She's been getting a good response when she cuddles. She usually just keeps me at her little arms length when I hold her, then she'll just rest her head on my shoulder. Every time she does that she looks up at me like she knows she's being cute. She's getting a little stronger, she's started pulling herself up to her feet instead of her knees. I think it's been hard for her to do that but she's doing good now.
Averi loves taking baths. I usually put the girls in then soon enough Asher's hopping in too trying to monitor all the toys. Averi just splashes and laughs the whole time. She wants to be sucking on a washcloth or drinking from a cup the whole time and she's very serious about it. When someone takes something away she lets out a scream like she has been seriously hurt. She gets all limp and just wails until she gets it back or something as equally fun.
It's been so fun to watch these little girls together. There's nothing cuter than when I go into a different room and watch them both crawl together to find me. They just stay right by each other and play together all day. Lately they've gotten comfortable playing on the bottom stair, they climb up and down that one stair a hundred times. It's funny because neither of them has dared to try the next stair up. If I put Piper on her stomach she'll climb down the stairs but they both just prefer that bottom stair.
This morning I was coming downstairs and wanted the girls to follow me out of my room, Piper wanted to go find the toilet of course. Poor Averi didn't know what to do, she'd follow me then turn around and get Piper, then come back to me and just went back and forth. I just hope more than anything that they have a great relationship and are the best of friends growing up. I know they love each other right now they get so excited when they see each other and love to watch each other. Piper was putting my clear lettuce spinner on her head the other day and Averi could barely breath she was laughing so hard. The more she laughed the more it encouraged Piper. It was so cute, these little moments make me excited for more as they get older and their relationship develops.
