Tubes

We finally did it! Piper got tubes in her ears this Tuesday. She was so good before. She couldn't eat much before she went under anesthesia and she seemed fine. This was taken while we waited for 45 min. for the doctor.

Piper has been a lot better since she got her tubes. That night I laid her down for a bed and she just twirled her hair and closed her eyes. That is such a change, because when she's laying down that's when her ears hurt the worst so she usually just screams and cries. Since then she's had good and bad days. One of her ears was really infected so I'm sure that still caused some pain. She's not eating as well as I thought she might so that's just how she is, it wasn't her ears that made her hard to feed. When I give her a bottle she just arches her back and yells. So I usually hold her and rock her in a chair and calm her down then when she calms down I have a small window of time to put the bottle in her mouth. If I wait she'll start crying again.

I wish I had a camera right outside the girls room to catch every body's expressions after they've tried to feed the girls and put them down. I've had so many people try to help with the girls and when they walk out of the room it's the same expression every time! They're feeling that same frustration that I've felt so many times!

Averi's had a cold this week and been coughing a lot. I think she's getting over it because she's starting to seem more like her old self. She really didn't smile or anything very much this last week, but she's been talking and laughing more today.
Asher had school pictures this week and I tried to teach him to look at the camera and smile at the same time. I think we've confused him too much with what to do when he's getting his picture taken. This was practice, he was looking at the camera and almost smiling!

Matt's mom came down this week to help out and she spent a lot of time with Asher and when she's here I'm definitely on the back burner. When I saw him this morning I go, "Hi Asher! Can I have a hug?" He glanced at me and started walking upstairs and goes, "Oh, no mom. Sorry 'bout that! But maybe later I can."

Today on the way home I had all the kids in the car and Asher was so tired from skipping his nap. I looked back and his eyes were glazed over and he was almost about to close his eyes. One of the girls made a noise and he goes, "It's OK sweetie girl, we're almost home." It was so sweet, he really feels a responsibility towards those girls.

He's so good with them. He's always climbing up in the pantry looking for those little baby snacks that he can give them if he thinks they're hungry, and he always brings them toys. In fact he's the toy monitor, he's always switching out toys that could potentially hurt them for something softer. It's so sweet and fun to watch him be silly and they just laugh so hard at him. Those moments I just think that it's all worth all the sleepless nights and long days that follow. The girls really are fun they have such cute little personalities and they just get so excited when they see me.

Glad that everything went good with the tubes. I am wondering if bridger is going to need them, it seems like he is always getting ear infections.

I'm so glad that everything turned out with her tubes! Hopefully, she'll start feeling so much better. That is SO cute how Asher is with the girls. What he said to them in the car even when he was exhausted is just priceless. He sounds like such a darling older brother- he'll always be protective of them! :)
