Just leaving for the hospital with one last shot.
We woke up took some last belly shots, and headed to the hospital. I was so nervous for my IV and spinal. Neither were bad. Then right after they gave me the spinal they just layed me down and put a sheet up. The doctors came in and I talked to him for a second and he said that he had been up since 3:00 worrying about my c-section and pregnancy. He knew I was in a lot of pain and my belly was so big. I told them that there should be a lot of amniotic fluid so we got started. Then when they broke my water both of the doctors were just so surprised about how much fluid there was. They suction up the water into these containers, a normal pregnancy fills one and mine filled 3, plus it was everywhere too. They both said they had never seen anything like that before. It was so nice having the pressure relieved, I could just breath for once!
The babies were born about 1 minute later. They were born at 8:04 and 8:05. Piper was born first, she weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and Averi was 6 lbs. 8 oz. Piper was breathing fine, but they were kind of struggling with Averi. So they hooked her up to Oxygen right away.
They added morphine to my spinal and once that kicked in it kind of made me feel miserable and loopy. I was itching and couldn't really focus my eyes and a million people were trying to explain things to me about Averi and asking me stuff. There were also a ton of visitors and I can barely remember who was there. That day was kind of a blur once the morphine kicked in.
Then by the afternoon I still hadn't seen Averi, and they were saying that she had a lot of air in her belly and she was breathing really rapidly. So she ended up being hooked up to Oxygen, she had an IV, she had two lines running into her umbilical cord, monitors all over her chest and feet, she had a see pap machine (sp?), a tube running into her stomach and another into her lungs. It was so sad! Matt spent most of the day with her that first day. Then at around 4 the Doctor said that they need to send her down to Utah Valley, and that I wouldn't be able to see her until wednesday. I about died. My brother was on his way to the hospital with his family and once they got there Matt and Greg went in and gave her a blessing. At 6:00 the life flight crew came and put her into a little box to transport her. Then they made a few phone calls and came in our room and said that within the last hour and a half her stats had really improved and they aren't going to take her to Utah Valley after all. What a blessing! We were all so happy and she just really started improving quickly after that. They moved her to the level 2 nursery and she stayed there the rest of the time, and I couldn't complain about that!
Because she had been through so much Averi really just slept the whole time in the hospital, well so did Piper, I guess all new babies do though. On Monday they started turning down her IV and her blood sugar stayed up then Tuesday the did the same with the Oxygen. By Tuesday morning she was completely off of Oxygen with just one scare. I can't even remember what happened now, but they still let us all come home together on Wednesday morning.
We've been home now for a couple days and are just having fun with these babies and trying to adjust to having 3 kids. I can't think about when Matt goes back to work and I'm here by myself with all 3. The jump from one to three has felt really over whelming to me but hopefully I can get used to it soon.

Oh Jaci, they are to die for gorgeous! Beautiful, beautiful and more beautiful! I am so glad that they are here safe and sound and that Averi got better so quickly! I can't believe how much hair they both have! And by the way, who besides you could possibly look that good during a c-section?!? You are amazing! Congratulations! I'm serious about my offer to help! I can't wait to come hold them
Jaci...
Thanks for sharing of the birth, the joys, the scares, etc.! Your baby girls are beautiful!
Welcome Home!!! The babies are adorable! I am glad they are both doing so well. When does Matt go back to work? Let me know so I can come over and help!
I was so anxious for the birth news, they are beautiful and good size. I am glad they are both home and doing well. How did Asher do with the new babies?
They are beautiful little girls Matt and Jaci!! I am so happy for you!! Thank goodness for the priesthood and blessings! Congratulations!!
They are so beautiful! Congratulations! I love the picture with both of them together for the first time. I'm glad you are all home, and I can't wait to meet them! Let me know if you need any help at all.
Congratulations Jaci! I am so excited for you! They are absolutely beautiful. I am so sorry that you had to go through all that with Averi. I am glad it is over for you. And to go through all that with a c-section to heal from. (I despise c-sections.) I agree with Jessica- how could you get yourself looking so good to go in and have a c-section. I don't even put on make-up because I know it will be at least a day before I can get out of bed. Good for you. You did a great job!
Oh congrats hun! I had been thinking of you lately too. You looked great even going to the hospital. But your girls are beautiful! Congrats to the proud parents! And of course, congrats to Asher! Thanks for the great update.
Can you believe it's over? They're here now and you're on the other side of the whole thing!! They are both absolutely beautiful!!! I see some of you, Matt, and even Asher in them. I guess we know they're definitely not the mail man's! I'm glad to hear that all ended up well and that you are all home. I hope you are adjusting okay and managing to get some rest here and there. I will call you soon to check up on you- but please DON'T hesitate to call me if you need to be rescued!

Congratulations guys! I am so glad that the girls are home -- they are gorgeous already! The picture of them lying down and facing each other gave me goosebumps. They really are straight from heaven! I am glad that Averi is okay. What a blessing to have a husband with the priesthood. Thanks for sharing your experience and these pictures so that we can feel a part of the miracle. Good luck adjusting to everything!
